thanks for your comment on "The Painter" though I liked it better last night when I wrote it! The processes of poetry and painting very different, though. When I paint--I see something inspiring, then deconstruct it in my mind in order to mix the right colors--then I go back and look at the finished product, and whatever I've emphasized in the composition seems express a lot about emotions--objects representing people--that sort of thing--some of my favorite 'critics' point these things out. That's a parallel with poetry, for sure! Poetry seems to come to me as a line or two, and spills out when the fingers hit the keyboard--very different! The Painter represents a time when things were going better than they are now--I got too busy with life's troubles to keep at it, and poetry keeps me from brooding about things...till things get better again!

I am a former college librarian and construction news reporter and have written poetry since 1973. My poems have been accepted by Hudson View Poetry Digest, The Pedestal Magazine, Oak Bend Review, Aquillrelle, Main Street Rag and Clackamas Literary Review. I was the featured poet in March 2011 on the World Poetry site and various poems have been read on the World Poetry Cafe Radio station in Vancouver, placed on display there, as well (including at the Pablo Neruda celebration) and another poem was further exhibited at the John Lennon Peace Tower in Iceland (see elaboration on this below).

My poem "Procession" won second place in the September 2009 WritingRoom contest. My poem, "Intriguing is This Silence" won first place in the June 2009 WritingRoom contest. My poem "Phenomenal With Shadows" won second place in the May 2009 Poetry contest at WritingRoom. It will be included in their next anthology. I'm married to a brilliant writer and musician. I have a great deal of experience in editing, proofreading and journalism, among other varied professions. My poetry is included in the "Eyes of a Poet" anthology, the Allpoetry anthologies, "First is Feeling" and "Ink Angels" and the anthology "On Viewless Wings V - Through Crystal Air" (18 poems of mine were included). I've had additional poems published in various anthologies over the years.

In addition, my poem, "Slow Dance With Neruda" was featured at the World Poetry Proudly Presents the 102nd birthday of the Chilean Nobel Prize winner Pablo Neruda on July 31, 2006 at the Vancouver Public Library. I was shocked and pleased by my poem's inclusion at such a prestigious event. My poem runs at the end of the dvd that was recorded, trailing across the screen slowly, much like the credits do, accompanied by Spanish guitar. Three consulate ambassadors were there, including the Consul General of Chile, Maria Eliana Cuevas. Many, if not all, of the poets reading his work had actually met and knew Neruda. Another poem was further placed on display at the John Lennon Tower in Iceland. I've had numerous poems on display in Vancouver (through the World Poetry organization), as well as having some of my poems read on the World Poetry Cafe radio station, broadcast from Vancouver. I take the art and craft of creativity very seriously, as it is a gift we've all been given to enhance our lives, to help us evolve as human beings.
