Too Short
  • Like the river after another rainless winter,
  • Running on a low stream, and here we sit and shiver,
  • So alive, yet freezing to death,
  • Give that cigarette a light, is that my last smoke, or your first breath?
  • All i know is that the second hand on my watch is frozen where its been forever, right on the eight,
  • I stopped keeping time years ago luckily, or was it weeks ago, maybe days.
  • Does it really matter? I'd like to think not.
  • Funny how we base the time we spend on some numbers on a clock,
  • But the irrelevance of that, to this situation,
  • Where your benevolence goes hand in hand with all of my elation,
  • It's a silly thing really,
  • Because its some negative number outside, yet your warmth is all i'm feeling.

It is only with the heart that one see's rightly; What's essential is invisible to the eye.
