South Michigan Ave.
So upset that I'm shaking;
Covered in failure,
Some say full of deceit...
But deception is nothing,
Just a branch of the self conscious
Being unwrapped slowly,
Like a priceless Christmas ornament
Or an exquisite work of art
Similar to a Rembrandt, Da Vinci, or Monet
Just looked upon with sorrowed eyes
And pupils dark as coals.

I am unthinkable.
I am the impossible.
Yet beautiful and full of grace
Everything small, near to perfection
Yet missing every want or need
By just a thread.
No work is eternal
Alas, no job is ever done.

I wish I could touch my hands
To the glass once more
But behind these darkened sunglasses
And solemn eyes
There's just you, me, and broken glass
That separate the walls between us.
I will learn 1000 languages if I must!
The right words to say, "I love you."
This one just doesn't seem to be enough
To clarify, and daylight savings time wears on...

South Michigan Avenue is calling...
Filled with asphalt, concrete, and disgrace
But beyond it there are mountains somewhere
Colored of chromium and chlorophyll
And occasionally blankets of ivory and white.

I will walk until I find them!
From sundown until sundown until dawn.
I will walk until I find
The right words to say, "I love you"!
That convey enough,
That are strong and hardened enough
To withstand the tests of time.
