How Do You Drink Beer?
Something has been bugging the crap out of me over the
last few days. I meet a lot people interested in trying new beers all
the time, but when they open the door to doing so, they are confronted
with a vast array of "knowledge."
I remember how difficult and
sometimes frightening it can be to start out in the world of craft
beers. A lot of times this difficulty closes people off and they go back
to the same old crap they drank before.
We here at Two Guys and
Some Beer want to welcome you into this grand world, not scare you away
from it. We started out just like you and look at us now. We are trying
some of the best beers in the world and learning more about them every
day.
When you walk into a store looking for some new beer to try,
don't worry so much about whether or not you'll like it. Just keep
trying different kinds of beer and eventually you'll figure it out.
Don't worry about what's considered cool or whatever. It's all beer and
beer is cool.
Don't worry about the glass either. I hope around
on different websites and notice a lot of people focusing on the
glasses. Let's face it, why go out and buy a certain type of glass for a
certain type of beer before you even know if you like that kind of
beer? Don't waist your time or money.
You can easily get away
with a good pint glass for most beers. It won't matter if you get it
wrong anyway, because at first you probably won't be able to tell the
difference on how a beer tastes from one glass to the other.
Don't
worry about price. I would suggest sticking to the mid-range stuff. The
cheap stuff is usually a mass-marketed ripoff of the real beer, and we
all know that there are a lot of expensive things out there that taste
horrendous.
Lastly, don't worry about the fact that you don't
taste all the little flavors you hear people talk about picking up. You
have to give your pallet time to learn the tastes. Trust me, it'll come.
Just
go out, grab a few beers and enjoy them. Keep it up and eventually you
will be rating like the best of us. Beer is supposed to be fun so have

You can't live a good life alone. It's like painting with one color. You won't find the true beauty of the picture unless you use other colors too. Sure, sometimes the colors will bleed together and your palate will get messy, but in the end it'll be worth it.
