I Passed Through In Silence
I passed through in silence.
no-one noticed.
I crept in by twilight
and cast no shadow
but left my soul
upon the walls of the inner sanctum
and maybe
in a hundred years or more
someone will say
I saw you.
or not...
the flame in my hand
carved pictures
in the frozen expanse
that has become
the book of my life.
there are those, few and many
who recall but have no wish
to remember
only that I was here
only that I was there
only that, that once they knew me
but no, no more;
the walls that bar my exit
from this cell
of equilibrius madness,
it's disease captures me
at the weakest of times
when the air is fresh,
the skies are blue
the grass is soft and green
and graves are easier
to dig;
and yey, from whence we came
all shall re-tune
and return that sacred earth
borne I once
a millennia hence
I remain the servant
to my iconic stratus
by which all shall speak my name
and smile,
smile because they could say
I passed them by without a word,
in a soft and warm breeze
that ruffles the hair
of white, of brown, soft down
and wispy, that
I whispered their name
and they mine;
and they know me.
I passed by in silence,
unchallenged by shadows
that dwelt as choristal
and servitudal sentinels
I am theirs
as they mine
and all shall remember
once...
