whitewashed picket fences

Whitewashed picket fences

lined along the lane

interrupted by an open gate

two newspapers laying

on the path to the front door

another tossed against a bush

they're damp from rain

the car is not in driveway

visiting family across the river

Next door

the small dog

runs along the shared fence

blue scarf tied around its neck

compliments of the little girl

the one who shares

MoonPies with the boy next door

His bike is gone

must be out riding

riding the neighborhood

riding past

whitewashed picket fences
