The Stone Wall II

6-29-09 The Stone Wall II

© 2009 Scottie Allman

I see as I sit on a park bench

A stone wall along a quiet street

A stone wall on either side

Of a garden gate.

The stone wall I see

Holds a small weathered bell.

Announcing those who wish

To see the other side.

The stone wall has along its top

Nine stone pots

Not one is alike.

Each stone pot along the stone wall

Holds a plant, each one different too.

I see each unique plant,

In each unique pot,

Along the top of the stone wall,

On either side of a garden gate,

With a small weathered bell,

I see the stone wall on a quiet street,

As I walk by along my way.

I read both. I love descriptive writing, and you're right, this wall is 'alive' somehow, if just by it's history. It sounds like a lovely place, with one of those secret gardens.

A Word from the Writer
This is a second version of the same poem. I did another version as an experiment to see how differently the same work would turn out.
