What Is The Gender Of A Soul?

What is the gender of a soul?

When looked at all together,

Are body and soul the same?

Maybe like an earthworm,

The soul can transform, when the need arises.

If it’s needed, the soul can change,

To find a better fit.

Maybe the soul is feminine?

With its necessity for trinkets and care.

Or maybe it's more masculine,

When it’s cold, troubled, or bare.

So it seems the gender of a soul,

Lies somewhere in between,

The feminine softness of the heart,

And the masculine hardness of the brain.

Synopsis
I wrote this after reading an interview with Nina Cassian, in which the same question was brought up. I thought about this question for several days until something came to me. Forgive my feeble attempt at verse.
