Fleeting Joy
A child dies of hunger
A woman is beaten
Lies are told
Crimes committed
He smiles at her
She smiles at him
They hold each other
And kiss
For one second
The world smiles
He embraces her
He embraces love
He embraces pain
They are one in the same

Jlew speaks the truth. So plain yet says so much. And that is true genius when a person can do that. Keep on writing so plain yet so well for lots of us appreciate that gift.

I really enjoyed this nugget. I wouldn't change a thing. You said a lot with a minimum of words which is the whole point of poetry. Bravo!

I just want to put my writing out there to get comments and critiques. The point of writing is to create a dialog. I want to start that dialog now.
