for my project i picked Office Space. this one of those movies in my opinion that you watch over and over again and cant stop laughing.
act 1: Intro to character and conflict- the main character is peter Gibbons. a man a who hates literally every aspect of his life at his job "Initech" a computer software company. the first act begins with his drive to work and the arrival to his job. as well as all of the irritating people and activites of his co-workers and boss, Bill Lumberg. accompanying him at his job are his friends Michael Bolton. who is disgusted at that fact that everyone is constanly asking him questions on if he's related to the singer of the same name. Samir Nagheenanajar who hates that nobody can prenounce his last name. And Milton waddams.a man who social inept man who has a tendancy to mumble and thus is pushed around. Later on in the film we are also introduced to a waitress named Joanna at the guy's favorite restaurant. Who hates her job and boss as much as they do. Peter also is constantly plagued by the thought that his girlfriend is cheating on him
Dramatic premise: How a group of friends can find someway to get out of the circle of work they hate.
Ordinary world: A normal business office. Joanna's restaurant. Peter's home.
ACT 2
Inciting incident: Peter see's an occupational hypnotherapist after his girlfriend makes him. After receiving hypnotherapy he suddenly realizes that he no longer cares about his job or the people there. Thus, freeing him of the stress and depression he has been going through because of it.
Obstacles Peter and the rest of his co workers are being given performance reviews and upon Peters review the bosses are so impressed by peters attitude of being upfront with his discontent for Initech, that they actualy give him a promotion. However, as his first order of business they want him to tell his best friends Samier and Michael that they have been fired.
culmination point to get back at the mistreatment that all three of the coworkers have been put through at the hands of the Initech company. Peter, Samir, and Michael plan to infect the entire computer system with a virus that would rip slowly rip them off of tons of money.
Midpoint the three then set there plans into motion on the Friday of Samir and Michaels last day. the use a disk to infect the entire system. Then in celebration of there deeds they go a destroy the company printer. Which is always causing paper jams and crashing.
Climax The climax arrives when Peter goes to a ATM and realizes that he now has $300,000 in his account. Something that shouldnt have been in his account that quickly. he also believes his girlfriend has slept with his boss in a previous relationship and thus cant stand to be around her. When the three find this out they all try to concieve of ways to get the money back or hide it. after not having any suggestions Samir and MIchael turn on Peter blaiming this entire idea on him before leaving.
ACT 3
Denouncment Peter believing he is going to jail as soon as the company tracks all the money missing to his and and friends account desides to runaway. after saying his goodbyes to his friends and his girlfriend now Joanna. He admits that he was wrong to accuse her and that he doesnt know why he cant just be happy with the job he has. He then goes to his job after hours and puts a letter in his bosses room, telling them it was he who stole all the money.
Resolution while driving the next day ( possibly running away or going to work for them to turn him in) he notices that a buildings on fire. upon closer inspection he notices its his job. Milton, who has snapped because of the constant bullying burns the place to the ground. destroying all the documentation, and the letter peter wrote. Now the company will never know who was taking the money. Peter then gets a job with his next door neighbor in construction cleaning the mess of the burnt down building. His friends stop by to offer him a job at Initrove- the sister company to Initech but he refuses. Peter finally enjoys his job.
