The Weekend

Kerry waited patiently

Praying her phone would ring

She hoped that this had not been

Just a superficial fling

Though Monday led to Friday

With still no sound or word

She had to think that her to him

Was just another bird

Then Friday night he called her

Said sorry babe its cool

My work was overwhelming

I feel now such a fool

Though I booked a weekend for us both

I hope you still are free

She packed her case then hurriedly

With overwhelming glee

Oh love a happy ending! I wrote one--similar plot--called 'The Affair' many years ago---so how did the weekend turn out? Must be a sequel there somewhere(?)---Michele.
