Story Continued part 12
Farrant summoned in his clerk
To check the monthly toll
To bleed each household daily
Seemed clear to be his goal

Each paid to plant the seed they need
Then again as harvest came
There was nothing fair about this tryst
It was the nature of his game

Today was planned a march past
To display his armies might
Though in truth non of his subjects
Needed reminding of their plight

There were non had any inkling
Of the force that was on its way
They just strove to keep their heads down
To survive from day to day

At Montar Crag the Escamants
Were toiling with the terrain
Each step on heightened shingle
Just added to the pain

Though these were worthy adept beasts
With hearts stouter than oxe
Shear bulk did not allow them
To travel light as the fox

The progress then was halting
As they picked their weary way
They would all sleep well this evening
At the end of this wearing day

Young Randson near the columns end
Had struggled more than some
For him the end to this hard trek
Couldn’t soon enough now come
