Delivery

Outside the storm was raging

As they huddled near the fire

Still shivering despite the heat

As all in night attire

They had gone to bed quite early

Then were woken by a scream

Outside the only light to see

Was a ghostly moonlight gleam

Though the tension in the cottage

Still electric as they sat

They were startled by the movement

Of the docile live in cat

Then from somewhere in the distance

Sounds were heard again once more

A rumbling out of nowhere

Seemed to shake the very floor

Each glanced from face to face to see

The fear in each ones eyes

A naked fear that try as may

They could not hope disguise

Against the door a thud was heard

As the rumblings went away

A heavy sack of presents there

Just in time for Christmas day

Oh, I like the suspense you created and kept throughout the writing, only to end it with the familiar association of Christmas. Very nicely written Mark. Thanks for sharing.
