A Letter

Carla sent the letter off

Then awaited a reply

She hadn’t any great hopes

Though she thought it worth a try

There was nothing for the first week

The second also went

She was now starting to worry

Where she would find the needed rent

There was nothing on the Monday

By Tuesday start to fret

This was not now looking promising

By far from any safe bet

She picked the mail up once again

On Wednesday as before

Still nothing took her interest

Just flyers hit the floor

On Thursday she was in the bath

As her phone began to ring

She rushed to get it nakedly

Just to stop the constant sing

“Hi Carla we’ve been after you

Want to offer you the job

The post it seems was held up

But my name right here is Bob”

“Could you come into our offices?

Could you start this Monday Please?

We really want your input

Don’t think of this as tease”

A weight from off her shoulders

Was lifted at that time

It gave her far more confidence

She was once more in her prime

I love the build up of tension as the days progress! A nice release at the end!
