Marriage

When I picture you,
I see your much younger face,
Peacefully asleep,
Your eyelashes almost hiding your cheekbones,
So long,
So exquisite . . .

You are lying on your side,
Your lips perfectly pursed,
So full,
So soft,
So kissably soft . . .

Your hair feathers out around your face
and Trails back behind you on the pillow,
Begging to be touched,
To be stroked . . .

Your left arm is over the covers,
Reaching out to me,
In the space I just vacated . . .

The only thing you wear,
The ring on your finger.

i wrote this for my husband of 12 years. i actually have a photo of him in this repose during our first two weeks of marriage. he is completely covered in bed-sheets, but my heart just melts because i know that all he is wearing is the symbol of our marriage.

Wonderful! The love you feel and write here is to die for. I will say this again on here: I wish I would have wrote this and anytime a writer wishes he/she had wrote something someone else has wrote, that is the highest of praise and honor.
