Trust Falls

She's got the world on her shoulders, and can't seem to shake it off
He wants to do it for her but he fears he's not enough
He wants to do for her what she's more than done for him
But he's afraid he can't 'cause she just won't let him in

He wants her to give him all of her heart, but
She's afraid he just might tear it apart
He has a ring that he wants her to wear someday
She wants it too but he's afraid it might scare her away….

And he doesn't know that her world revolves because of him
And he hasn't told her it hurts that she wont, let him in
And she hasn't told him that he makes her want, all the things she's always been afraid of
And she doesn't know that…. he's in love.

He knows that her life hasn't been very kind, and
He wants her to know that he still can't get her off his mind
She wants to lean on him, but is afraid that she might fall
He wants her to know that he'll be there through it all

And she doesn't know that his world revolves because of her
And she hasn't told him that she thinks he deserves, so much more
And he hasn't told her that all he wants are the things he thinks she's still afraid of
And he doesn't know that... she's in love

He wanted her to love him, didn't know she already felt that way
She wanted him to hold her, he was afraid she might push him away
He thought that he'd lost her, and she feared the same
That's when they both knew they were sick of this game….

So one day she told him that her world revolves because of him
And that’s when he told her that he'd be there through it all
And that's when he found out that he made her want all the things she'd always been afraid of
And that's when they both knew, they were in love.

I'd like to hear this set to music. It is a good combiantion of thoughts about a couple getting together in a love dance. Sort of reminds me a little of R.D. Laing's "Knots." The politics of experience can certainly be interesting.

Very good thinking here. This would make a great song if you could find a "hook" and a chorus. But in real life, this tells a story that many have and still are living. You spoke for them so well here. I see so much of my poems in this poem. "The Man That You Deserve", "The Hands Of A Man", "Just A Man" come to mind.
