when darkness falls..
the darkness comes brings with it spectral creatures of the night creatures with orbs for eyes orbs reminiscent of the distant moon glutinous globes glowing in the lunar light
moths flap by moths with luminous wings and oversized feather boa antennae flying haphazard through the blackness toward the beckoning light behind a well placed web
and see a masked avenger scavenges rips his way through human flotsam scatters it far and wide then scurries from view
vermin bearing bats (nothing more than mice with wings) membranes taut, then flexed on their nightly crusade searching, always listening beware insects of the night your silent wing beats are heard by this tiny foe
creatures of the night come forth hold high your banners be bold, be brave be wary, be afraid and always your vigil keep and come the morning light if you survive the night head back to your holes and sleep

A Word from the Writer
The idea for this came about after an early morning encounter with a raccoon and 3 of his, kits as they were attempting to violate my garbage cans! One of the young ones stayed as the others scuttled off, and we stood there, eyeball to masked eyeball for a few moments.
