the tree
in an unused corner
stands the tree
placed carefully in a pail
surrounded by a red felt skirt

shiny baubles and coloured lights
hang from every limb
and on the topmost branch
an angel dressed all in white

in each little hand
is a tiny lamp
adding sparkle and brilliance
to the trinkets hung below

under the tree
an assortment of gifts
gaily wrapped, lovingly placed
Christmas remembered.
