Life's Lemons
Life hands you lemons make lemonade
Or so the story says
So I need a lesson in lemonade making
Lemons is all I got

Can never seem to get it right
Romance is clearly not in my sights
All I can do is find mates with no love
Lemons and limes and the occasional persimmon

I need a sweet apple to come into the mix
A little tart to wake up the senses
But sweet in the end
So I can make Apple pie out of my life once again

Maybe a cherry petite and so sweet
Or even better a ripe strawberry may do the trick
Anything but a lemon or a lime
The sour taste in my mouth has been here for sometime

I don't think no amount of sugar can fix this pucker on my face
Maybe a little honey would fit in its place
So come on life give me a sweet one to work with
The taste of love is wonderful

So give me a Honey of my very own
Someone who will love me sweet as sugar
Someone to spend my life with and help
With the other lemons life gives

What a fun poem, but at the same time it conveys a serious message. One line particularly stands out: "Lemons and limes and the occasional persimmon." Anyone who has ever eaten an unripe persimmon knows exactly what that means. Elton
