My Own Worse Enemy

She puts me down,

Not one good thing she has to say,

Love is cutting me to pieces,

I think it’s the highlight of her day.

She’s always the one who tells me not to try,

I’ll always fail,

The one who convinces me I can’t be loved,

I’m a fool to think other wise.

Why do I let her do this ?

I’ll never know.

Why I take her words to heart?

I’m a fool for doing so.

It’s hard to fight someone who knows me too well,

It’s hard to win a battle when she knows what buttons to push.

She is my own worse enemy,

The one who sticks out the foot in order to watch me fall.

She is my own worse enemy,

The one is only lives in that dark corner of my heart

They say we are our own worse enemy and I agree with that, as well with your writng here. I wonder these very same thoughts. But one of my resolutions this year is to battle this inner enemy.
