If I Could
If I Could
If I could
swallow your anger
in my embrace,
I would.
If I wasn't so afraid
of your own beating,
palpatating heart
maybe I'd muster the courage.
I should stop thinking about my own fears,
that you may just crumple down before my own eyes.
Your tears are genuine,
unlike your lies.
You lie for my safety,
but i'd rather know the truth
than be in the shadows,
lies draped over my shoulders.
