Before You
By: Kayla Meyers
Every day in this cold and gray, lonely world
The colors blend and time collides
Don’t know how or why or when
My soul is bare, I’m dead inside
Nothing anymore to make me feel alive
Before you, before I saw your face
And the light of your smile, like the warmth of a thousand
Burning suns, electricity radiating through my soul
And I realize there was never any life
I was never quite alive, before you
Before you
I never saw a sunset before, the depth of the night
The rose never bloomed, all the stars did not shine for me
Now the world breathes again, and time has stopped
Oh, I can’t explain how everything changed, since I heard
your voice
Before you, before I saw your face
And the light of your smile, like the warmth of a thousand
Burning suns, electricity radiating through my soul
And I realize there was never any life
I was never quite alive, before you
Before you
