Ethnic Prism

During this year of 2020 the world faces a pandemic called the Coronavirus or COVID-19. The economical shutdown, stay at home orders, wearing of masks, and social distancing have created a lot of pressure on all of us. This confinement has caused substantial amount of irritability and a lot of intolerance. What is even worse is the great divide that has plagued this country for many years. I’m talking about the real pandemic of America, one that makes COVID-19 appear like a head cold. A deadly virus that has destroyed many American lives. The infectious disease called RACISM!

Before I continue if you are a person who is sensitive to the topic of race then I would advise you to stop reading now. Ok, now lets dissect this poison, shall we? Racism itself comes from hatred that develops from complete ignorance. This ignorance stems from lack of education which ultimately comes from laziness. I know what you are probably thinking. “Laziness? What does being lazy have to do with being racist?” The answer is simple, Laziness has everything to do with it. The reason is because its easy to hate. It literally takes no effort to hate anything. “I don’t want to learn that. Its too hard.” or “I don’t like it so I’m not going to do it.” Do these sound familiar? they should. We are all guilty of this at one point. The scary thing is that as basic as these two complaints are, they are also the basis of laziness that later turns to ignorance. When a person realizes that they are completely ignorant and doesn’t know much of anything they become frustrated. This frustration becomes hatred that a lot of times leads to racism.

Education is the enemy of ignorance. the more you learn about a culture through History, Science, etc. the more you can understand and appreciate it. When you understand and appreciate a culture, you respect it. This respect is how one learns to care for his fellow man. NOW things are going to get really deep so again if your are squeamish or easily offended I would advise you stop reading now. Though if you are I am indeed surprised that you have read this far, but none the less you have been duly warned.

In current times there is a support group called BLACK LIVES MATTER or BLM. It was founded on the principle of blacks being treated unfairly by the law and in general. There have been many protests as well as riots done in the name of this group. Now I understand the need to be heard and your piece be spoken. It is every’s right in America to protest injustice in a peaceful and orderly fashion. When it crosses over into Rioting, Arson, Vandalism, and Looting thats when the situation becomes a crime wave. Now to be completely fair throughout history Blacks have suffered similar attacks from a political hate group called the Klu Klux Klan or KKK. Yet again there is that word hate again. My point is the common enemy here isn’t Black people, White people, or even any people. The real enemy here is HATE. The hate that is bred from ignorance that stems from the lack of education inspired by laziness. Think about this for a moment, All humans (just like animals) have a sub conscience fear of the unknown. This fear is deeply rooted in all of us. THe less you know about someone the more suspicious you become of them. Before long you’ll not communicate with them or trust anything from them. This lack of knowledge (education) can easily turn to hate leading to prejudice.

By honestly communicating with our fellow man and building a trust, we can begin to understand and appreciate all our culture. What do I mean by our culture? I mean human culture in general. We may live in different parts of the world and have different walks of life, but in the end we are all human created in the image of God.

When God fashion humanity he did so as an extension of himself. He made us with such precision that we were pure and as clear as glass. THen God shined his light allowing it to fill us with his divine love. As the light passed through us it began to separate into many beautiful colors. Each one of these colors collected a portion of these glass people and carried them to different points throughout the Earth. Red descended to the North American region and those people became later know as Native Americans. Orange descended to the South American region and these people later became known as Latino. Yellow descended to the European region and those people later became known as Caucasian. Green descended down to the region of the Pacific Islands and those people later became known as Pacific Islanders. Blue descended to the eastern continent and those people known as Asian. Purple descended down to the continent of Africa and those people later became known as Africans.

So yes we all come from different walks of life and live in different parts of the world, but we are all God’s people. We are all connected through love, God’s love, the love that is God for God is love. When we genuinely do something for someone we feel closer to that person because love builds and draws us to on another. As we look to the Bible it says in Romans 13:8 “Owe nothing to anyone except to love and seek the best for one another; for he who (unselfishly) loves his neighbor has fulfilled the (essence of the) law (relating to one’s fellow man). Selfishness, Ignorance, and straight up greed, these are the true enemy. Hatred destroys and rips us apart. look around hate is every where. ask yourself one question. “WHEN DOES IT END??” Love and peace start with you. We all have a beautiful light within us. It doesn’t matter what color it is. We need to let it shine.

Love is the power from which we are all created. It helps us learn and grow. As it says in 1Corinthians 13 4-8 “love endures with patience and serenity, love is kind and thoughtful, and it is not jealous or envious; love does not brag and is not proud or arrogant. It is not rude; It is not self-seeking, it is not provoked (nor overly sensitive and easily angered); it does not take into account a wrong endured. It does not rejoice at injustice, but rejoices with the truth (when right and truth prevail). love bears all things (regardless of what comes), believes all things (looking for the best in each one), hopes all things (remaining steadfast during difficult times, endures all things (without weakening). Love never fails (it never fades nor ends). But as for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for the gift of special knowledge, it will pass away.”

Thats the wonderful thing about love, it builds us up, it lifts us up, it helps us to think up (positively about others and yourself), and it helps you be the best you can be. When you live through love one another you build a special bond of trust. Whether your light is red, orange, yellow, green, blue, or even purple let it shine and let us shine together. United we stand as a light of love against the darkness of hate. For love thrives hatred has no power and that vicious poison called Racism lies dead forever and ever AMEN!!!!
