One Touch

And suddenly, a woman who had a flow of blood for twelve years came from behind and touched the hem of His garment. For she said to herself, “If only I may touch His garment, I shall be made well.” But Jesus turned around, and when He saw her He said, “Be of good cheer, daughter; your faith has made you well.” And the woman was made well from that hour” (Matthew 9:20-22, NKJV).

You can be enveloped in seemingly the worse crisis of your life. As the walls come crashing in, you desperately seek the arrows of an exit sign, but none exist. The doors are shut and the lights dim into cavernous obscurity. There is nowhere to run, and not a daydream to escape into. There are no sheets to tie together to make that all-important jailbreak. The proverbial shovel and pick ax cannot be found, and the barriers around you have become impenetrable. You slump down in a corner, ready to give up on every idea and thought that has crusted the fibers of your spirit.

All you need is one touch

One touch from the Master can stir your captured soul into a captivated state of bliss. One touch from the Master can dry out every tear and cause fear to fear itself. One touch from the Master can drown out the cries of a long lost childhood and create the joy of your latter days. One touch from the Master can evaporate the rancid juice of the liquor bottle and cause you to drink from His rivers of living water. One touch from the Master can mold the blood-curdling yells of yesteryear into the energetic shouts of victory tomorrow. One touch from the Master can make the x-ray machine a liar and a doctor rethink his expertise. One touch from the Master stops the bleeding. One touch from the Master reverses the curse. One touch from the Master will make you whole.

When they had crossed over, they came to the land of Gennesaret and anchored there. And when they came out of the boat, immediately the people recognized Him, ran through that whole surrounding region, and began to carry about on beds those who were sick to wherever they heard He was. Wherever He entered, into villages, cities, or the country, they laid the sick in the marketplaces, and begged Him that they might just touch the hem of His garment. And as many as touched Him were made well” (Mark 6:53-56, NKJV).

Where are you? You take a step, and that step is forever lost. You had the landscape all mapped out, and you surveyed the land impeccably. You knew the exact location of every landmine, and you knew the explosion that would come if you stepped on one. You knew the pitfalls as well as you knew the palms of your hands. Where are you? Your surroundings were well managed and your innermost emotions were kept under lock and key. Your heart was encased by thick blocks of concrete, and the blocks were glazed with a thick layer of trepidation. Like a thief in the night, the blocks come crashing down. The landmines explode, and you narrowly escape. But, you missed the quicksand up ahead. You sink slowly. Your feet disappear and your legs are swallowed completely. You cannot make it another step, and your existence is being consumed as the minutes pass away.

All you need is one touch

One touch from Him can transform sinking sand into the rising dew of the morning. One touch from Him can defuse every explosive emotion and spark new hope within. One touch from Him prevents the walls from being erected and leaves open a clear path of love and sensitivity. One touch from Him reaches every strand of your being and provides the fortitude to find your way safe. One touch from Him causes triumph to beg your company and success to be your escort. One touch from Him can cause the earth to melt before your very eyes. One touch from Him can cause the sun to sing you a melody at dawn, and the stars to harmonize to you at dusk. One touch from Him can cause the steps you lost to be found and the footprints thereof to be discovered. One touch from Him will make you whole.

Then He came to Bethsaida; and they brought a blind man to Him, and begged Him to touch him. So He took the blind man by the hand and led him out of the town. And when He had spit on his eyes and put His hands on him, He asked him if he saw anything. And he looked up and said, “I see men like trees, walking.” Then He put His hands on his eyes again and made him look up. And he was restored and saw everyone clearly” (Mark 8:22-25, NKJV).

Your path was crystal clear at one point. You saw everything, and everything was within your grasp. The world was your playground, and all the substance of it was your pleasure. Everything that you touched would presumably turn into gold. You looked the other way while everything went your way. All of a sudden, it happened. The well has run dry. The gold has tarnished into a filthy display and rust and dust. The crystal clear pathway has become a muddy pathway of uncertainty. There is nothing to trust, nothing new to discover and nothing to love. All that went your way has abandoned you and turned the other way. A dark curtain has masked your eyes, and you can no longer see.

All you need is one touch

One touch from the LORD can, without any shadow of a doubt, remove the shadows of any doubt. One touch from the LORD can unearth the trappings within and bring forth vestiges of a new life. One touch from the LORD can beautify the tarnished images of failure and give birth to the vivacities of success. One touch from the LORD can cause the timely demise of feelings of uncertainty and cause the dawn of faith. One touch from the LORD insures rainfall will surely fill up every dry well with new wine. One touch from the LORD conveys the message of hope continually and life eternally. One touch from the LORD removes the cement blocks that make your feet refuse to move forward. One touch from the LORD is the life raft that saves you before you drown in an ocean of misery. One touch from the LORD will make you whole.

One touch from JESUS is all you will ever need.
