The Stubborn Cat

The Stubborn Cat

There once was a little old lady in a green hat who had a Stubborn Cat.

Every night after the cat took her bath and brushed her teeth, she got into bed.

The little old lady read her a book and told her it was time for bed, but that cat was so Stubborn, that she wouldn’t go to bed.  “I am not tired and I am not going to bed”.  She stayed up all night, laughing, playing, singing, reading books and doing puzzles.

The next day the Stubborn Cat was very tired and very crabby.

That night after her bath, the little old lady read her a book and told her it was time for bed, but that cat was so Stubborn, that she wouldn’t go to bed.  “I am not tired and I am not going to bed”.  She stayed up all night, laughing, playing, singing, reading books and doing puzzles.

The next day, the Stubborn Cat was even more tired and much more crabby.

That day the little old lady and the Stubborn Cat got an invitation for a party for the next day.  The little old lady said, “I am going to go to bed early, so I am well rested for the party”.

The Stubborn Cat said, “Well I am not tired, I am not going to bed”. And she stayed up all night, laughing, playing, singing, reading books and doing puzzles.

The next morning the little old lady got up in the morning and ate her breakfast.  She put on her green hat and got ready to go to the party.  She called to the Stubborn Cat.  “Are you ready for the party?”  But, there was no answer.  So she called her again.  And still, no answer.  The little old lady climbed up the stairs to find the Stubborn Cat.

The little old lady found her fast asleep.  She couldn’t wake her up.  The little old lady went to the party by herself.

When she got home, the Stubborn Cat was just waking up.  “What time is the party?”, yawned the Stubborn Cat.  “Why, you missed it, you were sleeping. I told you to go to bed early so you would be well rested for the party.”

The Stubborn Cat was sad that she missed the party.  She decided that she wasn’t going to miss any more parties.

That night after her bath, the little old lady read her a book and told her it was time to go to bed.  The Stubborn cat yawned and said goodnight, and she went to sleep.

And you know what… She never missed a party again.
