The Fact of a Doorframe
The Fact of a Doorframe
The fact of a doorframe,
the fact of a wildfire.
Hurricanes, tornadoes, ruins of my home.
Flowers that were so pretty in the front,
children that were so happy in the back,
the living room that was so comfortable to talk in.
I had no control over the spreading fire.
A tornado threw my car at me.
I love my family, I love my home.
But to no avail.
My peaceful way of life was no shield.
I have to go elsewhere.
Insurance men make gestures at assisting me.
Deepening waters deepen my terror.
I hate crime less than a violent wind.
My clothes now so comfortable on my back.
Think positive. Think for the future.
A fire scorching and hateful to my home.
I built it without hope of a tornado.
Something is lost forever when I rebuild.
Rebuilt domestic tranquility
is laced with pain.
