I Can't Hear You Anymore
I've tried so hard to communicate.
I've spoken, gestured, and shouted
in subtle and not so subtle ways.
What's wrong?
We're on different planes
speaking past each other.
Why was I trying to reach that plateau
if only to find you unresponsive?
Maybe I grew too big for my breeches.
Maybe I am much too small,
not worth the bother.
I am trusting and considerate.
I think highly of myself, indeed.
I once had hope of bridging the gap.
But now I see someone else has bothered
to erect an insumountable brick wall.
This makes that desired comuunication impossible.
I am speaking at nothing.
I search for the causes.
I have a lot to say.
My interests are catholic.
I do not hear my friends anymore,
but they are there.
I feel separation with all people.
Age does not matter.
The brick wall has divided us all.
Trying to be sensible,
I live and speak where necessary.
I continue with the unhappy resolution
of narcissism and solipsism.

The emptiness, hopelessness, frustration, and inability to connect or care any longer, lingers like sludge pressed compactly between rocks upon a shore that can never be reached. I've felt an inescapable pessimism, and inability to find a way out. When that all we have... we need help. Painfully sad - beautifully expressed

Synopsis
I think a lot of us are feeling a breakdown in communication in these troubled times.
