God is Dead

God is dead.
Like taunting a child with repetitions of
"your father is not here."
God is gone away.
That is what we fear.
All the underpinnings can't be found.
All dread emanates from that observation.
God is dead.
Do you see how simple that is?
I'm not just thinking of Nietzsche.
I'm talking of all around me.
People aren't seeing God,
living for God.
They're living for disaster.
They're eschewing the value of the Almighty.
Who can appreciate the heresy of Islam?
Now it kills.
Oh, but the Koran is lovely.
Excuse me, as I skulk around in this godless universe.
I'm not preaching.
God is dead.
I don't believe anything in this utter chaos I inhabit.
And neither do you.
We want to feel better,
yet we can't.
We have become suicidal.
Lament, lament the passing of the calm.
People everyday are cold and cruel.
There's no God in a gunshot.
There's no God in a starving man.
Still, let me reverse all I've said.
I hate faithlessness.
God created me and isn't along for the ride.
The light of reason invigorates me.
I like to think.
Love is a blessing.
Love can ameliorate man's suffering.
So back to the drawing board.
There's the problem:
man has destroyed the drawing board.

I'm a Catholic and a firm believer. Yet, this is what I descry in man's present condition.
