Passion
The struggle between my head and heart was tearing me apart.
My head told me to stay, choose to love, hang in there, things would get better.
It had been almost 14 years and things weren't getting better.
I begged, I cried, I told him I was unhappy.
He turned away and said that I was being ridiculous, that we were perfectly happy.
He was not hearing me.
I felt dead inside.
My heart was imploring me to find the one thing I was missing; PASSION.
I needed the chance to feel alive again but I have promises to keep.

... Duty before desire. The passions that drive us to find life, hope, love, joy, laughter and things that warm our hearts, minds, and souls will not be silenced. It is honorable to uphold your duty and your obligations against your better self... but such is required of all who make that commitment. Be well D.

Passion is such a mystery. I think, in the end, passion is an illusion. It is a state of mind and being that we create within ourselves. When we lose it, we tend to blame the object (person, place, thing) for which it was intended. Reality is, we did not evolve our passion to accept the changes of a changing world. Or, maybe I just drank too much coffee today? Anyway, reading this made me feel a certain melancholy. Sigh... Nice work. : )
