I Am Legend

The movie I Am Legend was shot in New York City, and was a tough job to film. One of the most difficult parts, aside from blocking off massive areas of New York City, was the opening scene. They called this scene “the joyride” but there was nothing joyful about it. The way they planned to film this shot required all of the surrounding areas to be surveyed, so they could get the feel of the basic matchmoving. It was going to be one of the most difficult shots ever to follow through. Afterwards they would have to edit out everything from lights on in windows, to unwanted people and signs. They added dirt on cars and grass growing from odd places to make the city look more abandoned. What you get in the end is an abandoned and partly flooded city, which is ideal for a zombie-like flick.
