Love Truly
How can I say I love you
when so much of you wants to be free

How can I say I love you
when I want to be selfish and think only of me

I see the the pain and indecision
the lights clouded over in your eyes
Change so sudden and impacting
all emotions are set on fire

Mental commotion and confusion
Overwhelming decisions at every turn
A caged dog resembles much of your disposition
So much about you I crave to learn

But time is not my friend today
My heart cries out to hold on
In truth my mind knows you shouldn't stay
and to that end I step aside
open the door with tear filled eyes
and watch you walk away

Fond memories will fill my mind
of laughter and fun filled days
a love no doubt my heart found in you
to that I will clutch onto always

I can feel the anguish just leap off the page at me for it is told so well. The pain and the confusion just tears the heart up, and then to not wanting to let go, but knowing it's the right thing to do makes it even worse. Sometimes, love hurts so good (As the John Cougar song goes) and it hurts so bad.
