Ice Block
Reflections wet with shine and weep
A promise that we swore to keep
Transparent sense of yearning worth
Roles to play, convince, coerce

A mislaid core, the grasp so fine
To hold onto the sacred line
Of soul and means to feed desire
To keep alive a fading fire

For what grows cool is cold all through
A match can't melt, it needs more fuel
More blast, more heat, to warm the block
Of ice before it turns to rock

The weathered days of time unfurl
Pleasures turn with tempers cruel
A reach for other arms to hold
The legacy of pain unfolds

If we find a life behind us
Of non-existent holds to bind us
Resemblance of a love so pale
Disappears the hope of heart, as well

The challenge of a lifetime is to stay together for a lifetime.

This is very well done. There are many people who will be able to relate to this.

This is so telling. It seems like marriage comes so easy to some; unfortunately I'm not one of them.
