Slowly Move Forwards

I was feeling so very vulnerable
Things were not as I thought they would be
I sought to find comfort in your arms
As I wondered if you really wanted me

You did not ask me what was wrong
Nor did you even hesitate
You saw that I needed comfort
Knowing any questions just had to wait

Ever so gently you reached out
And wiped the tears from my face
Before opening up your arms
To draw me close within your embrace

You held me there next to your heart
And quietly soothed away my fears
Allowing me to gather my thoughts
As you slowly dried my tears

My emotions had caught up with me
I was overwhelmed by feelings from the past
Mine, yours, it was all so confusing
Would our love be strong enough to last

I knew I couldn’t replace all that you had lost
I just wanted you to love me, just for me
I wasn’t sure if I could be that person
That I though that you wanted me to be

Then whilst you still held me so very close
We talked about the things that had made me cry
You forgave me for my foolish doubts
And did not question me as to “why”

You understood my fears and confusion
You told me that everything would be okay
What’s past can be quietly remembered
As we slowly move forwards with each new day

Thank you for loving me the way you do.

You have a 'Hallmark' quality that finds its way deep to the heart. It's beautiful Dee. Your gift is your tender soul. Live forever

Warriorprincess says it all. So deeply touching and moving. Done in a way that only Dee can do it. I am in awe of the emotional depth you have.
