Moments
Moments

Each day I still have my desires and dreams
And make plans for a long life ahead
I vow to live each day with love, hope and faith
Never leaving my words of love for you unsaid

I wish that I could promise you tomorrow
Because I want to spend all my tomorrows with you
But I have learnt that we have to live in the moment
Because it’s really all that we can do

It does not mean that I don’t still have dreams
Or desires that I want to fulfill
It just means that I have to remember
Life is based on reality not just strong will

Reality is that sometimes we don’t get the chance
To do all the things that we plan and dream about
Because in just a very quick moment of time
Our life can be changed, gone, wiped-out

It could be tomorrow or a long time from now
Most times we never know when it will be
It can be something that we’ve had time to deal with
Or it can happen so sudden and so very quickly

This is why we have to take these moments
To ensure that we say all that we want to say
For it’s these moments that make the memories
That we carry with us each and every day

Do not think that I am feeling or saying
That this moment right now is my last
Though I know that one day it will happen
Where there is no earthly future after my wondrous past

I will always want you to remember
The depth of love that I feel for you
And though one day for me there will be no tomorrow
I know my love will last eternity through

Remember it’s not only our lives that change in that moment
As it affects all those that know and love us too
For when we are gone we hope we are not forgotten
As our spirit moves on to begin anew

How true... the beautiful moments we experience are not eternal... they move past us like sands in an hourglass... They move faster than we are able to capture and hold within our hands... fortunately we have the ability to revisit lost memories... the ones that sustain and feed our souls - even if they be fantasies.

Another beautiful poem, Dee! See, I told you that we were kindred spirits! We do have so much in common and Becky does have a wonderful, loving, caring, kind, and beautiful mum. And I know that she's aware of this. You are absolutely right about being here today and gone today, so we do have to tell our loved ones how we feel, the moment we feel it. :) Jan.

How lucky Becky is to have a caring and thoughtful mother like you. The wisdom of this poem is eye opening for we only have today to live in, and the future to hope for.

Synopsis
This was written after my daughter came back from a 16 year old friends funeral. We talked about how she was feeling and she knows now that we have to tell people how we are feeling when we have that chance, for tomorrow is promised to no one. Here today, gone today.
