Goodbye My Friend
Goodbye My Friend

Never again will I get to see your smile
Or hear your voice on the phone
Never again will our hands reach out and touch
For your angels have called you home

You have left me now, my friend
You closed your eyes and went to sleep
Rest and peace is now your reward
Leaving behind memories for me to keep

You touched so many people in your life
And showed us faith, warmth and caring
In times when life was not too kind
You still gave love and kept on sharing

Sharing all the special qualities
That made you the person that you are
The one that we all knew and loved
Even those of us who loved you from afar

For you reached out and touched so many
With your courage, your love and grace
You were unique in your special ways
The beauty of your presence in time and in space

Now you have passed on to a better place
Where flowers will bloom and grow for you
The garden where you can rest
Where your wishes will all come true

So I will try not to cry those tears
That threaten to fall upon my face
For I know that you have earned your rest
In that loving, and very special place.

The Memories of you will remain forever in my heart.
Thank you for the gift of love and friendship. I will cherish it always.

Synopsis
This was written for a wonderful soul friend of mine who died of HIV on 21 April 2001. Les was an amazing person who taught me so much about love and life and I miss him still. When I see a rainbow I think of him, as his love and friendship were a beautiful rainbow in my life. I know that he always sends me those rainbows to show me that I am never truly alone, if I don't want to be. Please remember cherish those people who are "rainbows" in your life too.
