Wats dat?

Wats dat?

By Suzette

We were waiting for the bus to take us to the park.

    “Gramma wats dat?”

My granddaughter pointed to something behind me. I looked around then turned back,

 “What darling? There’s nothing there.”

Her little body jumped with excitement and in a raised voice she said again,

    “Der Gramma; Gramma look!”

I spun round quickly trying to catch a glimpse of who or what was playing tricks; yet again I saw nothing or nor one… I smiled inwardly when I saw my own shadow.  I sat her down on the bench and said,

“Sit there love, and tell me what’s it doing now.”

I started to dance and she started to laugh. I looked over my shoulder then back at her.

“Say hello to Gramma’s shadow and then come here and I’ll introduce you to your shadow.”

To all fellow prose writers, poem builders, novelists etc, be as critical as you like
about my pieces of work. I welcome all views as this is how I question the question
and think outside my own comfort zone.
