Seaweed Songs

A wooden boat with wooden oars
Weathered with age and peeling paint
Slides silently through the water
Seaweed catches on every pull of the oar
Skies darken, a storm hovers
Like a gospel song so deep it rumbles
Raindrops make a hollow thump
As they hit the boat in a steady rhythm.
