The Endless Path (Part III)
Yet another sleepless night,
I lay awake and distraught in this null.
By now something should of gave,
though in turn I know it has not.
You still haunt my every thought,
the memories that fill my head.
In the city of the gods yesterday,
I ran into someone of our past.
He spoke vaguely of our lost empire,
though he seemed to lack remorse.
I have grown tired of wandering,
the trails I've made lead nowhere.
For three moons I have circled,
yet I always come back missing you.
Rumors float through the country,
That you are with the prince.
I hope only that these are lies,
the visions of an absinthe induced trance.
The idea destroys what dignity remains,
though my blood is not of royalty,
you know my heart is full and true.
I feel I cannot go any further this way,
I must return to the ruins of our home.
I realize there is nothing there for me,
but neither is there on this endless path...
