Summer

The long, hot breathless heat has awoken my day
White curtains floated in the air, brought with it warm breezes…
I rose. Legs, whose sheets stick like glue, are sweaty
In the stillness of daybreak, the lingering smells of morning
Seeped through my hallway to my kitchen
Enticing my mind to eyes fully awakened now
Songbirds sung gaily as I sat at the table
Yawning, sleep has beckoned me once again.
I sipped the black coffee for it is bitter,
but awakens me fully, and I am more alive now.
Eagerness poked its head out of drowsiness
I go back to my room that lulls my day’s events away….

Reminds me of a lazy day when you just want to do nothing. As a side note, Read my poem "On A Summer's Day".
