My Sweet Delusion

Like a shooting star you didn’t see,
Or A fairy’s wing you didn’t feel.
Delusions of life, pass through your mind,
The true meaning of life, never to find

Some how I knew, my instincts were true,
But I chose to ignore them, I wanted you!
My sweet delusion, was a fantasy land,
Why would I want to release your hand.
I blocked out all feelings of fear,
I made all guilt just disappear.

I’d never had someone like me,
So I chose to believe you, I chose to see,
Another dimension, that you made so real,
I chose to distort how you did feel.
Your drunken rambles I swapped for truth,
Your words when written took as profuse.

My growing addiction, your sickening lie,
You unfroze my heart with what you implied.
I truly apologize for my creation of lies,
I didn’t realise you were under a drunken disguise.
I thought you were truly in a state of confusion,
So again I apologise for my stupid illusion.

i love the line "creation of lies" for some strange reason when i read this i read it with a southern accent, -strange huh. a wonderful poem indeed. it may pack more punch with stanza breaks and enjamb the lines to be shorter and making the lines clip and short and the poem longer. But the words and the style you used in this is awesome. another piece of great writing. I think the title speaks volumes- and the poem, a delightful image-ful chapter of a really long book

I liked this a lot for it tells of so many people that go through this same thing, and probably think the same thoughts you express here. And I like how you titled this and wove that into the poem.

Really very good Roxy, just check 'instinct' and 'swapped' - but really great rhythm and you use couplets with ease! xxx
