Enough

I Would like to dedicate this to my beautiful boyfriend Brian Robb. x

 Enough

Beyond the broken window,

The candle light flickers serenading the darkness

As the wooden floor creaks softly.

Through the door & beneath the archway,

Railways & Ribbons,

The passion and innocence of the wilderness,

Twilight hours & the Elvin Prince,

The moonlight reflecting off the orchid petals,

Lilac stardust, romantic lullaby,

Tranquillity of the lagoon,

The breeze whispering to the reeds & the rushes,

As he dances over the ripples,

the silent humming of his fluttering,

A butterfly emerges from her satin cocoon,

Dusk or Dawn,

The beauty of the flowing streams,

The sweetness of how the sun sings the moon to sleep.

The morning Lark sings gently to the trees,

The owl offended by the rising sun,

Snuggles down in his hollow tree,

To make way for the playful laughter of children,

In the meadow where the mice scamper,

As the candle light dies,

Wick burnt out,

Back into the room,

Back into his arms,

True Romance!

Very magical Roxanne, you evoke a mystical setting very well. I think my favourite stanza is the second one, though, I also particularly like the third. I enjoy the assonance of the owl and the contrast as day approaches. The final stanza is very ambiguous - are the preceding stanzas just fantasies, or a vision, as the night advances after the candle light dying. Blind love? I think I'll have to read it a few more times to check whether it has meaning, or whether it's just the evocation of an atmosphere. I really like it though, Roxanne, well done!
