For You
Hope was lost,
The world: a dark void,
Until you lit it up for me.
Love was a ghost,
That I tried to avoid,
Then you appeared so perfectly.

Your smile is one that stands out in a crowd,
Your eyes, brown gemstones, shine vibrant and loud,
Your scent is so comforting, it repels all my fears,
But the way that you love me, summons my

Tears trickling,
Down my cheek,
When you are gone.
I miss your tickling,
Making me weak,
But never for long.

You always return to be by my side,
Your eyes are glimmering, your smile is wide,
Playful habits return, you make me feel like a child,
I giggle when we're alone and you start to get

Wild nightmares thrive,
My mind can't cope,
I need you here,
To feel alive,
To have hope,
You must be near.

Loyal again, you meet my longing gaze,
Reunited, we're happy, you clear the haze,
This illness plagues your body and takes you away,
But I'll always stick by you; I'm yours any

Day or night,
Never worry,
I'm with you, don't fear,
To help you fight,
Make this disease sorry,
I'll always be here,

Forever near,
Don't fear,
I love you, my dear.

Synopsis
For this poem, I drew on actually experiences. I changed them a bit to make the poem a bit more dramatic. The general idea of this piece is that a character depends on their partner so much, they find it hard to live without seeing them for a few days. Their partner is ill and must constantly go to hospital. The character then realises that they should be taking care of their partner, rather than feeling sorry for themself.
