WHY

Why do I keep going back? I know better and yet I go
like a sheep to the slaughter to be cut down once again.
My eyes are open, I know the result for it is always the same every time.
Then why can I not stop?  What is it that draws me to my undoing.
It is not love, nor passion, but  a basic need that has to be filled. There
are many who could fulfill this need and yet I go where it is most dangerous for me.
So in the end whose need is greater?

…like a moth to a flame… you can’t change your nature. We ‘gravitate’ toward what ‘seems’ natural/comfortable/familiar to us. Sometimes that ‘sense’ of what is familiar to us is/has been destructive…, and though cognitively we ‘know’ what is good form what is bad we continually seek to engage the cycle because we sometimes become ‘accustomed’ to believing that this is our ‘role’ in this ‘play of life’. The ‘imprint’ placed upon us has been indelibly etched upon our life experience. We need not ‘run’ from it but ‘embrace’ it putting it in its proper place so… instead of being ‘ruled’ by it… using it to control/shape our futures. Understanding why we do what we do is a good step toward changing our ‘mental programming’ thereby enabling us to ‘choose’ a different response and put such destructive patterns of behavior behind us. Be well
