Frozen
Outside my window life goes by,
For everyone, but not for I.
Redundant clocks still choose to chime,
As here I sit. Frozen in time.

A well cooked meal. An ice cold beer.
So minor, yet to me so dear.
Material though they might be,
They seem these days, strangers to me.

A woman's scent. A female touch.
A stolen kiss. I miss so much,
Those nights of passion, gone it seems.
Existing only in my dreams.

Kept from responsibility.
I question my own loyalty,
To what is true. It drives me wild,
To be so distanced from my child.

The female touch. The ice cold beer.
They still exist, but not in here.
The child's life must still go on,
It can't be paused because I'm gone.

I sit and contemplate my crime.
A prisoner. Frozen in time.
