A Father's Sonnet
A girl more like an angel sent to save,
A man who knew no boundaries or control.
The man walked blind towards an early grave.
Purposeless, his heart contained no soul.

For love, this man had thought he'd known before.
He learned that love was sweet as it was cruel.
Relieved he was, to feel love's pain no more,
Or let emotion play him for a fool.

But love returned at the same time as she.
Yet angels come as quickly as they leave.
This love he'd found was for eternity.
A second chance. A reason to believe.

He learned no bond was stronger in this world,
Than love between a father and his girl.
