A CRACKLIN' ON THE BAY

As I awoke this morning

a picture came to me.

Something I've always longed for,

something I'd hoped to see.

There was a gentle breeze a blowin'

shuffling across the sand,

Giving off an unknown strength

to this here promised land.

I quickly rushed to see it

as I stood there on the shore.

Oh, it had a beauty all its own,

But it left me wanting more.

And as I stood in awe

of this beauty I was to behold;

I understood the power

of God's own strength unfold.

For the sun it gently rose

above the waters far away,

I stood there just to see it

A Cracklin' on the Bay.

Synopsis
The inspiration for this poem I owe to my daughter, Amanda. We were traveling in the car coming home from visiting family and she was looking out the window at the ocean, very deep in thought, and said, "I always wanted to see the moonlight crackle on the water." To me, it was such a descriptive statement that I made a mental note to store away for a later time, knowing that one day I would write about it. I honestly don't thin she realized she said it loud enough for anyone to hear but so glad she did. Thank you Amanda for your inspirations, you give off more than you know.
