Don't scream
In our familiar surroundings,
I end us,
In your warm coat, my tears stain your shirt.
In your arms my body heaves and I agree
It is for the best.
The corridors echo with my breath,
Clenching lungs so my voice won’t scream,
So my eyes don’t stream.
Laugh to release the pressure,
Make jokes so I can smile.
But it’s goodbye.
Empty house, I release.
The pressure decreases as the flood gates open.
By body heaves but your arms aren’t there,
And the tears fall on my cheeks, into space.
Nobody there to replace,
No-one to embrace.
