The Spending Cycle

Have those trips to the store spurred some urge to explore
Some nouveau style or craze on the shelf
Or the quest to define our creative design
Slowly drained us of most of our wealth

Oh..., it's nice to buy things for the joys that it brings
Helps us think that we feel that much better
Though it may seem alright to have what 'our' friends might
To keep up with the Jones breads a debtor

While we seek to feel great - sometimes passions won't wait
So we'll spend what we’ve left - and so find
That our money's well spent as our dues re-invent
Some grand scheme for the styles we define

So we spend all the more - that's what money is for
Yet we don't pause to search from the start
Or consider our fate, as our whims recreate
Great distress that our peace could soon part

When our money is spent, we might ask where it went
It assumed a ‘non-sequitur’ measure
Yet..., let's not be too surprised as the joys in our eyes
Fade to tears from the wealth of our treasure

Onevoice you nailed this one totally! The endless cycle of consumerism catches us up and never lets us go. Your wisdom of this fact speaks loudly and accurately here.
