Spill baby Spill...

“We’re addicted to oil," so said George Walker Bush, in his '06 State Union address...

“We must break our dependence on Middle East crude”; else we'll heap up immeasurable mess

An increase in Fed funding for ethanol fuels found in wood chips, some weeds and some grass...

Can help us achieve independence from greed, else we’ll find ourselves 'flat on our ass’

You’ll hear “drill baby drill" as political shrill by the few who still say this makes sense…

So they’ll ‘dig baby dig’ as they ‘spill baby spill’; hired Pols ‘bought and sold’ seem ‘oil-dense’

As the seas belch the crude, there’s a foul public mood - sacred trusts do the clueless betray...

Culpable as they are, we need look not too far, at the crude they will leave in the bay

Toxic ‘chuck’ run amuck quickly claiming the past; killing life as it moves in the sea…

Sifting oil from the soil and the edge of the beach with cheese cloth and a ‘boom’ - gingerly

Reclaimed gunk filled with junk, much which cannot be reached; most will stay buried deep neath the waves…

Deadened zone is now home to what once held sea life; but it’s now just a place for ‘more’ graves

So while week after week as the ooze starts to wreak, profits gained from the thick ‘viscous sludge’…

Go to Wall Street elites as they hedge our defeats – sanctioned with the ‘Far Right’s’ nod and nudge

When the ‘spit’ hits the fan and the ‘slick’ business man’s Senate-called just to give an account…

He’ll employ a ‘planned act,’ as he’s bitch-slapped with tact for a misleading spill-rate amount

They don’t ‘grieve’ for lost lives or great injuries caused; or the long-term impact from their mess…

Yet their fall in ‘street’ shares has been ulcering cares; and is ‘oozing’ their greatest distress

The ginormous discharge fouls our once ‘deep blue sea’ - harming earnings and habitat’s shore…

So why then should we pick up the tab for misdeeds done by Pols who have shown ‘us’ the door

Remember we had just a few years ago those skyrocketing prices for fuel…

Now the food that we’ll buy will go ‘right through the sky’ and no doubt be the next ‘Wall-Street tool’

Increased costs in our lives will cut deep – no surprise; as their feckless apologies do…

And as GDP rate does in time dissipate, so ‘our’ means start the hemorrhaging too

Public trust is ‘not’ there and as such some despair; poly-chickens who’re ‘greedy’ and bribed…

At great cost some may learn what their ‘thirty-piece’ earn at the ‘silver-shrine’ Judas subscribed

Some have said “it’s not theft…, so I’ll take what I’m left - yet a little won’t have great affect…”

But their vote’s compromised, and as such they’re despised; ‘cause they’ve ‘sold’ what they’ve sworn they’d protect

Right-wing’ pundits defend big oil interests they spend, against those of us footing the bill…

Putting profits ahead of the people they dread – while smart safety ‘protections’ they’d kill

Profits drive salaries at the large companies; with the bonus that ‘execs’ can make…

But what’s worse are the crimes done by ‘Capitol slimes’ who are Pols on their big ‘payroll take’

Psycho-babbling ‘sheep’ make apologizes deep as our President helps working class…

As he fights for our trust, ‘some’ are making great fuss as they’re kicking him square in his ass – they say

Blah, blah, blah…, ‘Come correct’ and to ‘them’ show respect; “keep your foot off the necks of this crew…”

“I’m ashamed as can be by his ‘thug’ policy; for the way he has mishandled you” - (BP)

Though you’ve rights to ‘your’ choice and entitled to voice the positions that ‘you’ hold so dear…

In the public domain, it’s a dangerous game, causing those it affects to have fear

Reckless self-disregard for one’s person or things is the ‘right’ of us all - with intent…

But when reckless regard does impact ‘other’s’ lives - it’s a crime done ‘without’ their consent

Is this humble young man who has taken a stand ‘gainst a culture of greed – all alone…

Guarding what he thinks just, all while earning our trust, while ‘his’ members abandon their own

Yet while some do betray…, “Et tu, Brute” I’ll say - Senate, Congress, judicial group…

For the hero ‘you’ rend may determine ‘your’ end; kicking ‘you’ from the Washington ‘soup’

I don’t know of your gripe or political stripe; but there’re things each of us should agree…

With the ‘public welfare’ we should ‘all’ stake our share as defined by our humanity

Wall Street firms have done great as they ‘self-regulate’; as their sharks do ‘our’ interests destroy…

And the ‘tools’ they’ve devise, as they plan our demise, will leave ‘nothing’ for us to enjoy

So the question is ‘why’ some sit idly by as ‘big oil’ is indulged their ‘own’ rules…

But why blame entities for ‘our’ great tragedies if they’re sanctioned by ‘government fools’

Consequence for one’s act is a matter of fact; we’ll account for ‘our’ deeds – I’ve no doubt…

But these weak ‘policies’ toward those bad companies do NOT ‘three-strikes’ and then put them OUT

So what price will they pay as this ‘slime’ oozes way in this ‘public’ domain that we own…

Can we claim our ‘fat check’, since they’ve ‘bent it like ‘Beck’ despite ample incompetence shown

Who’ll account for the dead, all the sick, and the dread - pray tell, how do they ‘give back’ what’s lost…

Reparations are due to the tired many who have been ‘taking a hit’ at great cost

So where passions are king and some lose everything; yet some don’t seem to see eye-to-eye…

Unknown futures less bright, irreparable plights, curse our privileged lives ‘till we die

Though I greatly suspect there’s a vast disconnect; life is cyclic as all things relate…

And to some small degree gleaned from past history - what goes ‘round comes around soon or late

This great nation is filled with the best things in life; we do fiercely defend what she gives…

Yet the irony sore is the system at war ‘gainst its people who've died - so it lives

Well then, if we ‘must’ fight this political ‘shite’ to protect this green earth safe and sound…

We should give her our best for the way we’ve been blessed; ‘for they ‘sludge’ all her dreams in the ground

One Voice not only is this total word mastery, but this is pure poetic wizardry. I think you just solidified your place in the "hall of fame" of this site. Warriorprincess wrote a poem titled "Cognoscense" (my spelling may be off) but it speaks of 3 writers on here that are outstanding. (Me, Trenchtown and SciFi Guy) May I add your name as the fourth?

You could have not expressed this any better. I love the way you encapsulated the essence of the idea as a whole!! Excellent work my friend!
