A Place Apart

Today I’m going to pay attention.

I’m going to notice how the sun
Forms kaleidoscope circles
On the threads of the fabric of my dress
If I look close enough
And squint.

I’m going to walk around these streets,
Smell the newly painted
Creosote fences,
Let them remind me of another life
Long ago

I’m going to sit beneath
The bruised-moonlight bark
Of the silver birch,
Bathed in birdsong,
And listen for secrets.

I’m going to let myself be a part of this place.
I’m going to notice.
I’m going to look.

The ordinary seen in a new way. Sometimes, the voyage of discovery is just seeing life in a new way. Good job here.

Quite often, in the hustle and bustle of everyday life, we don't appreciate or even see the fascinating reality that is right in front of us. We need to look a little. Good.
